Shrewsbury Dental Associates offers implant-supported dentures as a reliable solution for patients frustrated by loose or uncomfortable traditional dentures. Unlike traditional dentures that rest on the gums, these dentures “snap” onto implants, preventing shifting or slipping. This type of overdenture offers improved comfort and a more natural appearance.

To determine whether implant-supported dentures are right for you, Dr. Kaplan and Dr. Krishnan will perform a comprehensive exam and evaluate your existing dentures. You may be a good candidate if:
• You're constantly adjusting your dentures
• You’re relying heavily on adhesives
• Your dentures become loose due to changes in weight or aging
• You have bone loss
If bone loss is present, we may recommend bone grafting prior to implant placement to ensure long-term stability and proper healing.
During surgery, small incisions are made in the gums, and dental implants are carefully placed into the jawbone. These implants are then allowed to heal and fuse with the bone (a process that typically takes three to six months).
Once healing is complete, impressions are taken to create your custom overdenture. The final denture is removable for cleaning but snaps securely onto the implants, giving you a stable, comfortable smile you can trust.
